About Joy

Welcome,

I am an educator, an author, an encourager, and an influencer. I’ve spent the past three decades listening, learning, and leaning into neurodiversity so that we all can be authentically known, connected, respected, and valued.

The Formal Version: I’m a global neurodiversity educator, author, advisor, and speaker. As the parent of two neurodistinct adult children, my lived experiences influence my professional understandings and guide my work. I partner with teachers and leaders across education, business, faith, and community settings to promote neuroinclusive environments where all people can thrive.

Recognized as one of the Top 50 Global Neurodiversity Evangelists (2023), I have worked with schools and organizations around the world—including EY’s Neurodiversity Centers of Excellence. I am the co-author of "The Neurodiversity Connection: An Educator’s Guide to Understanding Differing Neurotypes to Support Student Success," a book that presents practical neuroinclusive practices and strategies that support not only individuals but also strengthen the entire organization.

I am committed to helping teachers, leaders, and teams understand the strengths and struggles associated with neurodifferences, often hidden from view. Whether in the living room, the classroom, or the boardroom, together we can design, adapt, and transform our communities so that every individual can be known, connected, respected, and valued. The heart of my work is to honor each person’s unique way of being—and empower others to do the same.
